The slogan goes, "You never get a ordinal chance to attain a first impression." But the Obamas recovered nicely in their ordinal meet to Buckingham Palace.

Social missteps seemed to smite the President and First Lady during their first meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in April 2009. The style business mocked Michelle Obama for act a boring black-and-white appurtenances in front of royalty. "You don't ... go to Buckingham Palace in a sweater," said designer accolade de la Renta at the time. Michelle also skipped the obeisance for a bolder hug, which was deemed controversial since it's against protocol to touch the Queen. (A Palace spokesman serviceable it was "a shared and spontaneous pass of affection.")

And finally, there was the heritage exchange. While the stag pair gave the Obamas a tralatitious framed picture of themselves, the President and Michelle presented the Queen with an incised iPod that was pre-loaded with videos and photos of her 2007 meet to the U.S. The heritage was widely mocked for being both tacky and uncreative.

This year, though, the Obamas scholarly their lesson. Michelle showed up to Buckingham Palace Tuesday in a bright sound jacket and gorgeous greenness dress that looked a bit same the Queen's outfit. And when it came to heritage giving, the First Couple presented the Queen with a handstitched leather medium filled with rare memorabilia and photographs that highlighted her parents' meet to USA in 1939.
