WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama urged Americans Saturday to ready fighting for women's equality, despite progress made in this area over past decades.

"Women are still more likely to springy in impoverishment in this country," the chair said in his weekly radio address.

He said that there were areas like mathematics and engineering where women were vastly outnumbered by their male counterparts.

"This is especially troubling, for we undergo that to contend with nations around the world, these are the fields in which we need to command the talents of all our people," Obama said. "That?s how we?ll get the future."

The president's comments were timed to Women?s History Month that is famous in the United States in March.
